Graduate students from the University of Akron’s (ÊÀ½ç¶Ä³Ç) School of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering made an outstanding showing at FiltCon 2025, the annual conference organized by the American Filtration and Separations Society. Held at The Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Ky., the event welcomed filtration and separation professionals from around the world with more than 15 companies from multiple continents exhibiting their latest technologies and taking part in technical sessions.
ÊÀ½ç¶Ä³Ç was represented by Dr. Sadhan Jana and four of his graduate students, including Moni Mahesh Ghosh, who earned first prize in the graduate student poster competition. His research focused on hybrid polyolefin aerogels for filtration applications and was recognized for its originality, clarity and overall presentation. In addition to the poster competition, Ghosh also delivered an oral presentation during the conference.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our students and alumni,” said Jana. “Their recognition at this conference is a testament to the groundbreaking research and innovation coming from our program in the field of filtration and separations. This achievement underscores the exceptional talent and dedication of our team.”
ÊÀ½ç¶Ä³Ç alumni also played a role in this year’s conference as members of the organizing committee, continuing to support the professional development of students and young professionals. ÊÀ½ç¶Ä³Ç’s strong presence at FiltCon 2025 reflects its leadership in advanced materials and filtration research and its commitment to innovation and industry engagement.
